Job description: Live-out overnight Newborn Care Specialist required for a warm and loving Brooklyn family with a newborn (mid September due date). The first time parents are seeking a knowledgeable, engaging and proactive individual who can apply their experience of normal infant growth and development to provide exemplary emotional and physical support to both baby and parents. Candidates up to date with current methods and techniques across all aspects of newborn care is desired. An excellent communicator who can help guide, support and educate the parents will be successful in this role. Specific duties include, but not limited to, nursing/bottle feeding support (Mom plans to combo nurse + bottle feed), newborn hygiene, swaddling/comforting and age appropriate sleep guidance.Location: Carroll Gardens, BrooklynStart date: September 19 (dependent on delivery date/return from hospital) for 12 weeks (potential for extension into early January). Mom is planning ~ 8 weeks of parental leave.Days/times: Overnights: Exact hours to be discussed, likely 7pm – 7am (12 hours), 5 nights a week (ideally off Friday/Saturday overnight), guaranteed 60 hrs a week. Family is open to 4 nights a week for the right candidate. Potential for weekend support as needed.Children: Newborn (expected mid-September)Conditions: $40 – $60 per hour* dependent on experience and qualificationsFor further consideration, applicants must possess the following:
- A minimum of 5 years experience as an NCS, 5-10 years + preferred
- A well-suited demeanor for working with newborns
- Exceptional childcare references that attest to strong communication skills, reliability, punctuality, maturity and high emotional intelligence
- NCS Certification or equivalent knowledge
- Education or equivalent knowledge in lactation support
- Strong background in bottle support/techniques and newborn/infant sleep education
- Ability to complete all child related duties (including, but not limited to: bottle preparation/sanitation, cleaning up/tidying nursery, closet organization and laundry, etc)
- Comfortable with pets in the home (no pet care required)
Expected salary: $40 – 60 per hour
