Settlement activities could include preparing invoices, communicating with counterparties, reconciling transactional data and settlement results, monitoring and executing contractual and regulatory commitments, properly documenting settlement activities and procedures, and supporting the information needs of other groups within AEP. Responsible for understanding settlement requirements and procedures for execution. Complies with all guidelines and standards, including Sarbannes-Oxley and regulatory accounting policies.Job DescriptionPrincipal Accountabilities
- Enter and pull transaction and billing determinant data into/out of systems.
- Reconcile data between systems under the direction of others.
- Prepare, administer and analyze invoice and allocation results against contractual and regulatory commitments and resolve discrepancies.
- Document desktop procedures and operate settlement systems in compliance with existing desktop procedures, ensuring functions are completed according to defined schedules.
- Recommend and participate in implementation of process improvements.
- Estimate and actualize revenue, expense, and allocations to operating companies and General Ledger accounts. Assist in analytical review of settlement results.
- Maintain and organize contract files, invoices, audit requests, regulatory documentation and documentation related to the closing cycles.
- Prepare basic schedules, exhibits, and documents to support regulatory filings and request for information.
- Adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley controls and participate in testing those controls.
- Demonstrates understanding of gas contracts, coal contracts, wholesale contracts, regulatory agreements, and RTO settlements.
- Demonstrates understanding of the relationship between application functions and governing agreements.
- Use pre-existing application functions and reporting tools to provide informational support to financial and operational functions.
- Understand and manage in-house developed reporting tools which use PL/SQL, SQL Server, Excel VBA and/or other tools.
- Participates and provides support to management for special projects and organizational needs.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively collaborate and work with groups outside of the settlements group (i.e., Accounting, Regulatory, Operations, ect.)
Minimum RequirementsSettlements Analyst AssociateEducation4 year Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or similar quantitative degree program.Will consider no degree with 4+ years of related industry experience in settlements, accounting, and/or commercial operations experience.ExperienceExhibits strong financial, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work as a part of a team and possess excellent time management and organization skills.Self-starter with accomplished oral and written communication skills.Proficiency in Excel is desired along with familiarity with Oracle databases and the ability to query data using application such as PL/SQL, SQL Server, Excel and vendor applications.Experience with VBA, MS Office suite, SharePoint, etc. to support efficiency efforts and data analysis is preferred.Proficiency in facilitating team efforts and managing small projects is highly desirable.Compensation DataCompensation Grade:SP20-005Compensation Range:$60,438.00-75,546.50 USDCandidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location.
